Embroidery Collage and Applique Workshops

Jessie's workshops are run from her shop on Columbia rd, although she has designed then specifically so they can be carried out at your own home or any other chosen venue if you wish for a special event.

 Valentines cards and souvenirs

Create beautiful hand cut and appliques cards and small wall pieces you will be crating items that can be placed in a frame or some kind of housing this could be a book or box. we will be concentrating on making items that are to do with giving a receiving memorable objects to a loved one as a mark of your love to them or to mark a memorable accassion.

Embroidered Memory books and pages

Create small narrative based pages using layering of chosen fabrics,paper and found items of interest.

You will be given the opportunity to create one of stand alone pages which can be framed or you will be equally encouraged to bind your pages in to a fabric structured book. This workshop is perfect of all abilities no technical skills required.Once you have booked on to the workshop you will recieve a materials list for the day this is to encourage you as the maker to  bring items that are both personal and important to you and your way of making so one the day you create something unique.

 Memory Boxes

 A New Workshop for 2012 you will be provided at the beginning of the class with a basic cardboard structure/Box you will then create a simple scene to go in the box using cardboard,wire and paper machet combined with collage applique and hand embroidery.
The aim of the workshop is for you as the maker to create a one of shrine and memory keep sake box but with some narrative structure to it as in the image below I aim for each piece to tell a story within its own right.
This workshop is perfect of all abilities no technical skills required.Once you have booked on to the workshop you will recieve a materials list for the day this is to encourage you as the maker to  bring items that are both personal and important to you and your way of making so one the day you create something unique.

 Altered Objects
A Rather Fun workshop day ware you can really get stuck in to the making of one item or equally have a go at a few different techniques.
The items that we will be focusing on in this workshop are my most popular and almost my favourite to create. We will explore The Altered Journal, Altered Jewellery and Re worked Garments and also the cut Story book can be explored within this class
This workshop is perfect of all abilities no technical skills required.Once you have booked on to the workshop you will  receive
a materials list for the day this is to encourage you as the maker to  bring items that are both personal and important to you and your way of making, so one the day you can create something unique and usable for yourself. This may be a re worked Cookery Journal for your recipes or you may cut the arm from a well loved and worn vintage tweed jacket and make yourself a new purse with a lovely brooch to match! so yes there is lots to think about.
